Job Summary: 

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Developer specializing in plant-based products to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in culinary arts and food science, with a keen understanding of market trends and consumer preferences. This role involves designing, developing, and launching high-quality products that meet our company’s standards and delight our customers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Product Development: Conceptualize and develop new plant-based products from ideation to commercialization. 
  • Food Science Application: Utilize knowledge of food chemistry and emulsification to optimize product texture, stability, and flavour profiles. 
  • Develop and refine recipes/formulations, focusing on taste, texture, and nutritional profile, while adhering to food safety regulations. 
  • Market Research: Conduct market analysis to identify trends, consumer needs, and potential opportunities for new product development. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products adhere to food safety regulations and labeling requirements, collaborating with product information and quality assurance teams. 
  • Ingredient Sourcing: Identify and source sustainable high-quality ingredients that align with product goals and cost parameters. 
  • Testing and Quality Control: Design and conduct sensory evaluations, shelf-life studies, and quality tests to ensure product consistency and performance. 
  • Cost Analysis: Analyse costs to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining product quality and profitability. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, and production teams to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management. 
  • Consumer Insights: Gather and analyse consumer feedback to refine existing products and guide future development efforts. 
  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and technological advancements, bringing creative ideas to the product development process. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or a related field. 
  • Three-to five years’ experience in Plant based product development e.g. cooking and or nutritional products. 
  • Strong understanding of food science principles, ingredient functionality, and culinary techniques. 
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality assurance processes. 
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation in food products. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience within plant-based cooking and /or nutritional products. 
  • Proficiency in sensory evaluation methodologies.
